REF
- private house
- 2007
The clients are a married couple of an editor and a real estate agent. They purchased a residential site next to a shopping center in Itabashi ward. This project started with a precept of providing luxurious space in precious time they share in their busy life.
If you look around surrounding sites, residences with humble exteriors seem noticeable thus the southern concrete wall façade of REF is rather introvert. On the other hand, top lights and windows with random openings and haphazard lights reflect back and forth in the interior part.
The contrast of monotonous façade and the unimaginable inner space makes you forget being in just a 30sqm residence. Modern appearance of a unification of concrete and walnut provides calmness and relief.
